Michelle's passion is teaching.  With 25 years of experience she is flexible to each student's strengths and needs.  The main goal is to inspire and direct a student towards learning a broad range of pieces and to motivate independant development.  A broad emphasis is placed on the desire to create a positive learning environment that welcomes all students who have interest to learn.  Each person learns differently and each person will seek different goals.  Skills that are cultivated when learning music can help students in any other subject as well.

 

Research has shown that the benefits of music study at all ages has a strong influence on learning and development.  Studies have shown that:

 

• Hearing music stimulates the mind

• Music instruction enhances abstract reasoning skills

• Grade school students who have taken music lessons often score higher on cognitive development tests

• Playing an instrument strengthens hand-eye coordination

• Music lessons teach discipline, dedication and enable students to achieve goals

 

Most of all, I love music and want to share my passion for music with others who want to learn.  My experiences with music have shown me that it is truly a universal language and crosses all boundaries to unite the world with the beauty of sound.
